Richard Gere have always been anti-China. He have become just another religious self-righteous blind follower of the Dalai Lama. Celebrity like him loves to portray the Dalai Lama as god-like when in fact that same Dalai Lama not long ago was supporting violent rebellion through the help of CIA training and arms (check google). He was ruling Tibet by form of feudal theocracy. Celebrities perpetrate these falsehood because of their reverence for any new age spiritualism, from scientology to other pseudo-religion.

China will continue to develop and improve and just like South Korea, their increased economic freedom and prosperity would slowly lead to other forms of freedom. Hong Kong is set to have universal suffrage on 2012. But China's success is so threatening for some people they will create and encourage trouble from factions like Tibet, Taiwan and the self proclaim religion Falun Gong.

But if push comes to shove, Gere wants the US to step up and do the right thing by Tibet.

That says it all.

China's Marxist Monarchy has a sole purpose of maintaining it's grip on everything it touches. No one believes that suffrage in Hong Kong will actually mean a representative government. If that were the case, China would not be trying so hard to intimidate Taiwan.

The US, least of all, is threatened by China's Marxist free enterprise. It is China's aggressive stance towards their neighbors that threatens the region.

as a buddhist and student and great friend of his holiness the XIVth dalai lama, i feel i speak for many concerned friends of tibet, that mr gere represents well our deepest sympathies and helplessness when we accept the genocide being perpetrated by the chinese within their borders, and those of burma and nepal. our helplessness as peaceful beings leaves us agreeing that boycott and sanctions of chinese endeavour outside those borders is our only recourse and perhaps one gandhi would have supported.

it is my suggestion to those of us with grave concerns for the unarmed tibetans who have had their land and culture marginalized and destroyed to take a stand. one action we can take is to not give any support to the olympic games by blacking out all media coverage in our private homes or reading any print, and suggest to our friends to show solidarity by not allowing any information about olympics into their private space, or buying chinese made products.

Go to youtube and search for 'yuan ming chinese tibet history' for a bit of Tibet history past and present.

While there you might as well check out another Tibetan Buddhist - Jet Li, point of view on Tibet. Just search for 'Jet Li Tibet aggression' on youtube.

Mr 'Ed Robert' - seems like a pro-CCP trying to assume an American identity. You seem to be spouting the hogwash propaganda that the CCP poisons its people with....

Richard Gere ,can you use a little of your brain to think the whole thing?
Comparing to your age , I think your wisdom should be improved.
