REUTERS/Larry DowningWas the call a genuine intrusion or a campaign stunt meant to soften his image before a potentially unreceptive crowd?Some believe the call was a demonstration to offset negative press on the alleged "queen-like" Judith Giuliani.As he addressed the crowd, his cell rang. “Hello, dear. I’m talking — I’m talking to the members of the N.R.A. right now. Would you like to say hello?”He paused; she said something then he laughed.“I love you, and I’ll give you a call as soon as I’m finished. O.K.?”The Guiliani campaign insisted to various media sources that the call caught Mr. Giuliani off guard. “It was a moment of candor and spontaneity on the campaign trail,” said Maria Comella, a campaign spokeswoman.The AP reports it was not the first time Rudy has interrupted a campaign stop to take a call from his wife just as he was making a speech. In June, visiting a community of largely Cuban immigrants in Hialeah, Fla., almost the exact same scene played out.The New York Times noted the previous cellphone interruption in a blog posting on Friday after the speech to the N.R.A., the campaign of a Republican presidential rival, Mitt Romney, found the video and sent reporters links to YouTube, where both calls could be seen side by side.After taking Friday’s call from his wife on stage, Giuliani said, “This is one of the great blessings of the modern age, being always available. Or maybe it isn’t. I’m not sure.”

Not only was this a carefully orchestrated 'moment of candor', but at the same time 'America's mayor' was pandering to the NRA (National Retard Association) for their support. The man who supported gun control in one of our deadliest cities, is now saying that we need guns to fight terrorism. Does he think we could have shot down those planes before they hit the Trade Center? Giuliani is a bigger flip-flopper than Romney!
