John McCain's snit with Mitt: Varmint guns and Guatemalans

No hugs for McCain from Mitt..... EPA/TANNEN MAURYApparently one of the interview participants asked McCain about the immigration issue and Romney's attack on the bill's compromise. "Maybe I should wait a couple of weeks and see if it changes because its changed in less than a year from his position before," McCain retorted, referring to Romney's immigration stance. "And maybe his solution will be to get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his lawn." McCain's dig at Romney’s line about being a lifelong hunter despite not having had hunting licenses, that he was no big-game hunter. “I’ve always been a rodent and rabbit hunter,’’ Romney was quoted. “Small varmints, if you will.'’Earlier the Boston Globe newspaper ran a piece exposing Romney's use of that country's illegal immigrants for his lawn maintenance and the "Guatemalans" comment was a smackdown comment referencing that fact. boston-globe-articleRomney spokesman Kevin Madden counter-punched on the controversial topic.
